Hey Bridget, here are some insights based on the answers you gave us when you took our skin survey. The answers you provided really helped us to perfect the product – Base Plus was made with you in mind.
Blackheads and whiteheads
You mentioned that your main skin focus was Blackheads and whiteheads. Blackheads and whiteheads are actually a form of acne, and are formed when pores on the skin become clogged with dead skin cells, oil, or bacteria. The difference between the two is that blackheads are formed by pores that stay open, and if the pore closes, a whitehead, or closed comedone, will form.
To treat blackheads and whiteheads, people commonly use oil-free, noncomedogenic skin care products, which do not clog the pores, and ones which contain ingredients such as salicylic acid (which works to unlock pores). Gentle exfoliation using cloths for example or mild chemical exfoliants such as AHAs and BHAs can help to prevent the build up of dead skin cells that could lead to clogged pores. Lactic, salicylic and mandelic acids are often more gentle.
