Jolly Ndikumana’s skin
Hey Jolly, here are some insights based on the answers you gave us when you took our skin survey. The answers you provided really helped us to perfect the product – Base Plus was made with you in mind.
Skin that feels dry
Dry skin is often confusing as there is a difference between (and a different approach for addressing) skin that lacks oils, and skin that lacks hydration. People with a dehydrated skin condition are those whose skin lacks water – this skin type can look oily whilst feeling very dry because often the skin overcompensates with producing oil to make up for the lack of hydration.
People often address this by using products containing ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, and making sure to drink enough water throughout the day.
Uneven skin tone (patchy or hyperpigmented)
There are different types of hyperpigmentation, such as age spots, melasma, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. The condition can be caused by anything from acne scars and sun damage to hormone fluctuations. People sometimes opt for over the counter creams to treat this, containing lightening ingredients such as vitamin C, niacinamide or liquorice extract. Stronger agents should always be prescribed bed by a medical professional.
Sun exposure triggers melanin production, so people seeking to alleviate hyper pigmentation are often advised to wear sun screens or blocks to guard against the condition worsening. The best treatment for scarring however is to avoid the causes in the first place – for example, if most of your scarring is a result of acne, steps like avoiding comodegenic skincare and taking care to exfoliate could help.
We hope this information was useful and look forward to seeing what you create with us.
